Transfer a Veterinary License to Wisconsin
Spotless record = endorsement; any blemish = board review
Wisconsin's fast lane is for the spotless: currently licensed, never disciplined anywhere, ever, DEA privileges never touched, and either a recent exam or 4,000 practice hours in the last 5 years. Qualify and there's no score transfer at all, just a $185 application and the online open-book state-law exam, which needs a steep 88 percent. Any blemish drops you to board review with a longer, less predictable path.

Watch out in Wisconsin
- The clean-record gate is absolute: a decades-old reprimand or a single old exam failure without a later pass moves you to board review.
- The state-law exam's 88 percent bar is among the highest here, though it's open book.
- Two different PO boxes in two cities: applications go to Milwaukee, third-party documents to Madison. Mixing them up delays you.
- Even online applicants must mail an original notarized signature page.
After you are licensed
- Renew $160 every 2 years by mid-December of odd years. CE is 30 hours with no online caps; RACE counts.
- The $160 consulting permit allows 60 days a year of advice-only work when a Wisconsin vet requests it in writing.
- Telehealth needs the Wisconsin license, and the vet-client relationship can't start remotely.
